I still don't have anything exciting to tell you. I'm still kinda sick, but I taught today anyways. I made it almost all the way through, barring the last ten minutes.
I really love my kids and teaching my ILP classes, but my ELE classes are seriously stressing me out. These are the classes that we teach with the Chinese teachers. It wouldn't be so bad if they just left the room and let us teach. I guess it is nice having them there to control the kids, but if they don't like what we're doing, they tell us to "change". Excuse me, but I'm not making up ten different lesson plans for one 45 minute class just so you can pick which one you like best. They even correct my English! Incorrectly, I might add. I want to say, "Who is the native speaker here?!" Ugh. So. Irritating.
Anyways, the ELE teacher that I have tomorrow is Jade and she is the most tolerable out of all the ones I teach with, so that's a plus. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day and I can't quite say that I'm looking forward to it. Sorry to be a negative nancy, but sickness seems to eat all my good spirits.
Today during opening, Candy comes up to me and says, "Teacha, what is this?" as she started rubbing underneath her eyes and pointing to mine. I told her I had circles under my eyes because I had been sick. She made the saddest little face possible and said, "Teacha, I want you to feel betta," and she gave me a hug. I could have died right then and there.
This is why I'm here, people. This is why I'm here.
I've been threatened that if I can't keep food down by tomorrow that I'm being taken to the hospital. These head teachers apparently don't know just how stubborn I am. I'd prefer to exit China with all my organs, please and thank you.
